Overview

Position: VP of Data Engineering

Salary: $185K - $210K/yr d.o.e. plus benefits

Location: Remote, or hybrid if located within 31 miles of the Santa Ana, CA or Austin, TX offices.

Position Summary:  We are seeking a visionary and strategic VP of Data Engineering to lead our data organization. This is a leadership role with the expectation of being hands-on when necessary. You will be at the helm of our data strategy, making critical decisions on our data stack, including the strategic implementation of key data tooling. You will be responsible for building and mentoring the data engineering team, and for developing the data models and infrastructure that will power our data-driven future. This role is a crucial enabler for NAF's Data and AI initiatives, and you will have a significant impact on our business's success.

Responsibilities

  • Experience creating and executing roadmaps for data engineering, data analytics and data governance.
  • Drive the strategic vision for our data platform, making key architectural and technology decisions.
  • Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable data platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle
  • Champion the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and maintainable data models and mentor your team in best practices.
  • Experience building and leading a high-functioning team with a mission to power real-time, intelligent experiences for our customers and associates
  • Lead technology focused discussions with senior leadership by providing valuable insights and recommendations that guide technology-based decisions
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
  • A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
  • Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience
    • Managing Data Engineers
    • Designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
  • Proven experience developing and executing a strategic data roadmap.
  • 5+ years of experience
    • In Snowflake, Databricks, Fivetran, Airflow or similar ETL, orchestration, and warehousing tools. 
    • Building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services and architecture (AWS and Azure)
    • Experience with data analytics or machine learning.
  • Hands-on experience in Rest/Restful API development.sn 
  • Familiarity with Semi structured Databases such as Cosmos. 
  • Advanced experience with SQL.
  • Bachelor's degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Advanced knowledge of data modelling and schema design. 
  • Snowflake/Cloud certifications. 
  • Familiarity w/mortgage origination and servicing.
