Overview

Position:  Technology Operations Manager

Salary: $140K - $180K/yr d.o.e.

Location: Remote OK - If living within 31 miles of Tustin, CA or Austin, TX will need to be able to work a hybrid schedule

 

Summary: New American Funding (NAF) is a nationwide mortgage lender dedicated to providing tailored home financing solutions to borrowers across the United States. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Technical Operations Manager to lead the operational backbone of our IT and engineering functions. In this critical role, you’ll drive the reliability, scalability, and security of our technology environment—ensuring our systems, infrastructure, and internal processes support the rapid delivery of compliant and innovative mortgage tech solutions. The Technology Operations Manager will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Compliance, and Security teams to ensure systems are stable, processes are efficient, and tools are optimized to support high-performing teams. As a key partner to Product, Technology, and Enterprise Portfolio teams, you'll support consistent execution across initiatives while reinforcing focus, accountability, and transparency in a highly regulated, fast-paced mortgage technology environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight: Lead and continuously improve day-to-day technology operations including deployment processes, incident response, and vendor systems performance.
  • Process Optimization: Design and implement operational workflows to support development, QA, deployment, and support functions in alignment with business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Tooling & System Administration: Oversee delivery related tools and systems (e.g., release management, incident tracking, monitoring dashboards, ticketing systems). Ensure these tools are effectively configured, adopted, and maintained to support compliant, efficient delivery by working with engineering or vendor partners for technical implementation as needed.
  • Incident & Change Management: Own incident response procedures, including postmortems, root cause analysis, and process improvements to reduce recurrence and downtime.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Operations, Security, and Compliance to ensure infrastructure, access, and controls meet audit and regulatory standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Oversee system performance metrics, uptime, service levels, and capacity planning to ensure smooth delivery of mortgage technology products.
  • Vendor & SaaS Management: Manage vendor relationships for critical systems and services, including SLAs, integrations, and security compliance.
  • Security & Compliance: Support IT security protocols and compliance initiatives (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, CFPB guidelines) by managing access controls, data handling processes, and internal audits.
  • Technology Roadmap Support: Assist in aligning infrastructure and operational priorities with the broader technology roadmap.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in IT operations, DevOps, or infrastructure management in a technology-driven environment (mortgage tech or fintech preferred)..
  • Experience in regulated environments with knowledge of industry compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, ISO 27001, financial industry audits).
  • Proficiency with operational tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, Splunk, Datadog, Terraform, or similar.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with a track record of process improvement and incident resolution.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
