Overview

Position: VP of Engineering

Salary:  $190K - $210K/yr d.o.e. plus annual bonus

Location: Remote OK - If living within 31 miles of Tustin, CA or Austin, TX will need to be able to work a hybrid schedule

Summary:

We are looking for a talented Vice President of Engineering. As the VP of Engineering at New
American Funding, you'd lead and mentor engineering teams, drive technical strategy, and ensure the
delivery of robust, scalable solutions, while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the
company's technology operations. The VP will set and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and
coding guidelines. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership abilities
to advance our digital transformation initiatives in the mortgage industry while ensuring seamless
collaboration between global teams.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Mentoring
• Serve as SME for Technology and must have exceptional communication skills both in written and
verbal form.
• Foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous
improvement.
• Be present for your teams, providing guidance on vision, technical strategies, and process
improvement
• Provides analytics to business, through data, presentations, and tools.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineering leaders and individual contributors onshore and
offshore.
• Develop and implement the company's technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business
objectives.
• Work with executives to achieve company goals, OKRs, and meet deadlines.
• Leads by example, providing a fun and healthy team atmosphere.
• Communicate department goals to ensure employees understand their responsibilities.
• Implement effective performance management frameworks and career development paths
Technical Leadership
• Partner with product management to develop long-term technical vision and implementation
strategies
• Lead and drive the design/architecture of complex, scalable systems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and other stakeholders to define technical
roadmaps.
• Audit Azure DevOps backlog tickets and incidents for quality control.
• Oversee and ensure proper incident management and resolution between customers, employees,
stakeholders, and IT.
• Identify and address security vulnerabilities proactively
• Present new ideas, tools, and resources to fellow senior leadership for evaluation and
implementation
• Establish metrics and KPIs to measure team effectiveness and engineering quality
• Drive data-informed decision making through analytics and performance insights
• Identify and mitigate risks across engineering initiatives

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 20 years of progressive software engineering experience, including 7+
years in senior leadership.
• 7+ years of mortgage-industry expertise, with hands‑on mastery of the complete loan
life cycle.
• History of successful product launches and technology transformations.
• Ability to work independently, analyze data, and recommend appropriate actions with
minimal supervision.
• Superior analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excels in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing, diverse engineering teams.
• Proficiency with mortgage/servicing platforms, particularly Encompass LOS and Genesys
Cloud integration, is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of security frameworks, encryption, and compliance requirements for
financial data.
• Experience with financial services APIs, data integration, and real-time processing
systems.
• Previous experience in high growth fintech companies or digital transformation
initiatives.
• Familiarity with scaling Cloud based solutions, specifically Azure
• Deep knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Experience measuring team growth with Agile
• Familiarity with Message Based Software Architecture is a plus

Knowledge of Devops, branching strategies and quality gating
• Domain Driven Design (DDD) knowledge or experience
• Knowledge of Back End and Front-End application structures
• Experience with Persistent storage, RDBMS, Blob, NoSQL, is a plus
• 3rd Party Saas Integration experience is a plus
