Overview

Position: Compliance Specialist (TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT FOR AT LEAST 5 MONTHS).

 

Location: Tustin, CA (on-site) remote OK  if outside of 31 miles from Tustin, CA.

 

Pay: up to $36/hr.

 

Hours: 40/hrs a week.

 

Position Summary:

 

New American Funding is seeking a Compliance Specialist to assist the Compliance Department in reviewing advertising marketing requests for compliance, reviewing and maintaining various monthly tasks and reporting for compliance and providing other compliance assistance related to desk rentals and advertising services agreements.

We seek smart, motivated candidates who are proactive, able to prioritize work, are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills, and strong attention to detail. This position will report to the Senior Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Reviewing marketing and website content for compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements;
  2. Reviewing, interpreting and providing guidance on federal and state rules and regulations and investor/insurer requirements;
  3. Reviewing desk rental and advertising services agreements for compliance with applicable compliance and regulatory requirements;
  4. Reviewing monthly submissions, verifying accuracy of submissions, maintaining monthly reporting and payments;
  5. Assisting with, and upon request, managing agreement documentation and updating agreements;
  6. Handling questions regarding the requirements for desk rentals and advertising services agreements;
  7. Maintaining compliance documentation, including policies, procedures and memos;
  8. Providing other assistance as needed.

Desired Competencies:

  1. Understanding and experience with reviewing advertising marketing materials, desk rental, and advertising services agreements for compliance with Regulation Z, RESPA, UDAAP, fair lending, and other applicable federal and state requirements;
  2. Excellent knowledge and practical experience with all major changes that affected the mortgage industry in the last 10 years (including but not limited to Dodd Frank, ATR/QM, “Know Before Your Owe”/TRID, HMDA Reform, TILA, etc.)
  3. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently;
  4. Effective communicator, both written and oral; and
  5. Strong listening skills.

Qualifications

Desired Education/Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS)
  2. 5+ years of Current Mortgage related Compliance experience
  3. Working knowledge of LOS Encompass from Ellie Mae and their compliance engine “Mavent”
  4. Working understanding of a Compliance Management System
  5. Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)
  6. Comfort with learning and using proprietary software systems
