Overview

Position: Paralegal I

 

Location: Remote OK (If living within 31 miles of Tustin, CA or Austin, TX will need to be able to work 2 days on-site)

 

Pay: $35 - $38.46/hr d.o.e.

 

 

Position Summary:

New American Funding is seeking a Paralegal to assist the Legal and Compliance teams in reviewing and managing legal documentation and requirements.

 

We seek smart, motivated candidates who are proactive, able to prioritize work, possess excellent communication skills, and pay great attention to detail. The position provides an opportunity to be part of an active office and close-knit team in a role critical to the performance of the company’s business. This position will report to the VP, Legal.

Responsibilities

  1. Drafting and submitting title claims.
  2. Creating and recording title curative and title issue resolution documents.
  3. Drafting and reviewing demand letters, pleadings, discovery, and settlement agreements.
  4. Managing communications regarding title resolution, litigation and related legal matters.
  5. Reviewing and interpreting legal and real estate notices, such as service of process, subpoenas, lien notices, notices from homeowners and condominium associations, and government notices regarding code violations on real estate;
  6. Managing and reporting on litigation information, legal invoices and related issues;
  7. Notifying affected departments of legal notices and providing guidance on required actions;
  8. Reviewing and interpreting moderately complicated rules and regulations;
  9. May include analyzing and revising basic legal agreements, such as non-disclosure agreements;
  10. Maintain document files;
  11. Applying for reimbursement regarding non-routine litigation, and;
  12. Researching and responding to complaints from regulators and government entities

Qualifications

Desired Competencies:

  1. Medium to high skill level with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  2. High comfort level with mortgage lending and servicing software, such as MSP
  3. High comfort level using custom or proprietary software, such as litigation management systems
  4. Significant experience interpreting title reports, legal descriptions, and real estate legal documents
  5. Experience with litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial practice
  6. Experience with title curative and title resolution
  7. Experience performing legal research using legal research systems, such as AllRegs
  8. Self-motivated, detail oriented and able to multi-task
  9. Positive and a good team player

Desired Education/Experience:

  1. Paralegal certification or Bachelor’s degree + minimum of 5 years of legal or related experience
