Overview

Position: HMDA Manager

 

Location: Remote

 

Position Summary: The HMDA Manager will be responsible for the supervision of New American Funding’s Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (“HMDA”) program and submission of accurate and complete HMDA Loan Application Registers. This role will entail providing ongoing practical advice, having primary responsibility for HMDA policies and procedures, identification, and appropriate mitigation of risk, reporting to senior leadership as appropriate, and supporting HMDA-related audits and examinations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and review company’s various HMDA audits performed by the Compliance and Internal Audit teams at New American Funding (“NAF”).
  • Prepare, validate, and submit the Quarterly HMDA Loan Application Register (“LAR”) for NAF, including comparing counts of the various HMDA categories being submitted against NAF’s Encompass Loan records to validate that the various reported categorical counts match the Encompass records.
  • Continuously audit and monitor HMDA information and documentation for completion and accuracy prior to submission of the LAR.
  • Prepare and submit accurate HMDA LAR reports to the Senior Compliance Officer for sign off, adhering to strict deadlines, prior to submission.
  • Give feedback to Senior Compliance Officer for any HMDA-related concerns.
  • Provide guidance to all employees as needed to ensure compliance with HMDA requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for all staff regarding HMDA reporting questions.
  • Assist the Compliance team related to various projects with HMDA and compliance requirements, including assistance in remediation of all findings related to HMDA from CFPB and other regulatory agency examinations.
  • Stay current with HMDA regulations and any updates or changes, including attending internal and external training to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the position.
  • Update and prepare policies and procedures related to HMDA data gathering and LAR submissions as directed by Senior Compliance Management.
  • Work closely with Fair Lending Manager, Fair Lending Committee and Legal & Compliance senior management.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of compliance and loan documentation, and good understanding of mortgage products
  • In-depth knowledge of HMDA requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software and comfort using proprietary systems as needed
  • High proficiency in LOS systems, including Encompass
  • Experience with submission of HMDA Loan Application Register using N-Contracts is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent issue spotting, risk assessment, research, and problem-solving/analytical skills; ability to quickly identify key issues, separate the noise, and provide practical advice and solutions
  • Ability to work closely with lawyers, compliance and risk professionals, etc., in a collegial and cooperative manner
  • Excellent organizational/project management skills and attention to detail
  • Initiative and strong work ethic (self-starter); ability to work independently
  • Client focused, emphasis on prompt delivery of quality services
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at once

Desired Education / Experience:

  • College graduate, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in home loans/mortgage lending. At least 5 years of HMDA experience preferred
